"AI For All: Oakland’s Aurum Preparatory Academy Embraces AI, Content Creation, Future of Work with Mike Johns, Bay Area Rapper, Activist, Businessman, “Mistah F.A.B” and CEO & Founder of Easiio Jian Lin
Oakland, CA October 7, 2024– In conjunction with the highly anticipated a16z Tech Week, Digital Mind State and Aurum Preparatory Academy proudly presents "AI For All, Leave No One Behind!" initiative, an engaging workshop led by renowned futurist Mike Johns and celebrated rapper and community activist Mistah F.A.B. on October 7, 2024. This two-hour workshop, held from 1-3 PM at Aurum Prep Academy, aims to foster digital inclusion and empower the Oakland community with essential AI tools and knowledge for the rapidly evolving digital age.
Mike Johns, the visionary behind Digital Mind State and We Are Digital, a nonprofit organization, emphasizes the importance of AI readiness for every child. "It's crucial that communities of color are well-equipped with AI skills and knowledge to ensure they are not left behind in the new world economy," says Johns. “ With the content economy ranked the number one job Gen Z wants to do, our job is to equip them with access to dream and build big!”.
As a pillar of the Oakland community and staunch advocate for education, rapper Mistah F.A.B. joins forces with Mike Johns to champion AI literacy and inclusivity in underserved communities. "We believe that by providing our students with opportunities to learn from tech industry leaders, we can inspire them to explore new career paths and develop the skills necessary for success in the 21st century," adds Lakeisha Morgan, Instructional Aid/Substitute Teacher at Aurum Prep, who is the catalyst in organizing this collaboration.
The "AI For All, Leave No One Behind" workshop is honored to have Jian Lin, the CEO of Easiio, as a special guest speaker. Dr. Lin, a Caltech Ph.D. and industry veteran from Cisco/WebEx and RingCentral, brings a wealth of experience in Cloud PBX and web/video conferencing. As an influential figure in the telecommunications industry, Lin's participation will enrich the discussion on the role of AI in fostering digital inclusion and transforming the future of work communication technologies.
