College Prep in the 21st Century

The incredible benefits of a college preparatory education that starts in middle school.

At Aurum Preparatory Academy (Aurum Prep), we recognize that a rigorous education is the means by which all students can and must develop the foundation necessary to be caring, competent, fully-informed, critical thinkers, prepared for college, career, and life success. By teaching our middle school students the academic habits and processes of discourse and deep thought, we are forging early life foundations that will lead to great, long term accomplishments.

We believe that our students need to develop college level acuity during their formative pre-teen years. Often if this step is missed, youth in high school who do not have the necessary acumen and fortification of character that ensures they remain true to course, will more easily fall to the wayside. With a focus on college preparatory studies in middle school, we at Aurum Prep are teaching our students that with high standards, dedication, and great character, they can succeed in anything they choose.

Honesty, Integrity, Perseverance

In order to prepare our students for a positive and beneficial college experience, we first focus on rigorous character development. This step in a young person’s development is the key to building an indomitable work ethic and unshakeable sense of self -- two qualities which are cornerstones that make every challenge in life approachable. We develop our students’ positive belief in self and understanding that the only thing a person has control over is their own approach and attitude towards the situations they are faced with.

Through rigorous instruction and positive character education, Aurum Prep educates all students in grades 6 through 8 to succeed in high school, college, and life, and serve as the next generation of moral leaders. We train our students to value and demonstrate honesty, integrity, and perseverance as these traits build upon each other and create guide rails in life. They also build synergy and support into living our GOLD values: Growth, Optimism, Leadership, and Design Thinking.

21st Century College Prep = Continually Changing Technology

One of the most assured things in our modern world is that everything changes. Therefore, in addition to excellent character development, we train our students to embody curiosity and teachability. Regardless of how often the world changes around us, college prep in the 21st century must be centered on a student’s ability to stretch, grow, and maintain their dedication to trying new things on their learning journey.

This means that we make sure all Aurum Prep teachers not only possess strong content knowledge and exemplify excellence in their roles, they also possess a hunger to continuously grow. We lead by example, embrace our differences, and demonstrate the ability to graciously receive feedback and implement it with fidelity. This, accompanied by an unyielding optimism about, and unwavering belief in our students’ abilities, sets Aurum Prep apart as a top notch educational institute, repeatedly changing the lives of our students -- and our communities -- for the better.
